Graduate Seminar

Monday, January 14, 2013
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Dr. Hugh Daigle, Assistant Professor in the PGE department at UT Austin, will give a talk entitled "Petrophysics: What it is
and why I do it" as part of the Graduate Student Seminar Series.

Abstract:
The fundamental goals of petrophysicists are to define the volumes of fluid phases present in the subsurface, and the ease with which each fluid may be produced to the surface. Modern petrophysical research combines theoretical, numerical, and experimental data to answer questions aimed toward these goals. I will present some past, present, and future projects involving laboratory experiments and theoretical work that I hope further our understanding of how fluids move through the pore systems of rocks. This will serve as an introduction to my research projects and the exciting future of petrophysical research at UT.
