TJ Wheeler, ConocoPhillips, will present a talk entitled “Technology and the Oilsands – Surmont Asset Update” as part of the Claude R. Hocott Graduate Seminar Series.

Wheeler is the Manager of Heavy Oil Technology at ConocoPhillips.  He holds a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Economics and Finance from New Mexico State University.   In addition, he has completed a citation program in Geostatistics from the Centre for Computational Geostatistics at the University of Alberta, Canada.  Wheeler started his career with ExxonMobil and joined ConocoPhillips in 2000.  Throughout his career, he has worked in primary oil and gas production, waterflooding, miscible CO2 and miscible N2 floods, and heavy oil development.  Wheeler was one of the reservoir engineers involved in gaining approval of ConocoPhillips first SAGD project in Northern Alberta, and continues to support the growth of the oilsands within ConocoPhillips portfolio.
