Dr. Philip Schmidt is the Donald J. Douglass Centennial Professor and University Distinguished Teaching Professor at UT Austin. He has been on the faculty since 1970 and is currently Associate Chair for Undergraduate Program Development in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Schmidt’s research focuses on energy systems design, with particular application to energy management and conservation in industrial processes, and integration of thermal and electrical systems. He is the author or co-author of 3 books and numerous articles in the journal and conference literature and holds three patents.
