Students have the opportunity to compete for and be awarded
scholarships directly from organizations. In these cases, the
organization publishes the information and criteria for the
scholarship and students are expected to fill out any required
application and send it directly to the scholarship source.
Often these awards have preferences, such as for students from
certain areas, students who work while attending college, or
students with financial need. They may or may not have academic criteria.
Information about these individual scholarships is sent to
either, or both, the College of Engineering Scholarship Office
and the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems and
Hydrogeology. Students who have completed the COE online
scholarship application will receive information about all
competitive scholarships advertised through the College of
Engineering. The PGE department e-mails all students about all
available scholarship opportunities received. Students need to
be certain they have signed up to receive departmental e-mail
