Current Students :: Graduates :: New BS/MS Program

PGE is offering a new 5-year program in which BS candidates can earn an MS degree in one additional year rather than the traditional two years. This degree plan is "no thesis, no report" and is designed for currently enrolled BS candidates in the Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering department at the University of Texas at Austin. Our graduate program is rated #1 in the country by US News and World Report and is recognized worldwide for its excellent curriculum, modern facilities and outstanding faculty.

To complete both degrees in five years, the student must fulfill the history and government requirements of the BS degree before his senior year. This will allow room for two graduate courses in the spring of the senior year. These courses will count towards an MS degree. A flowchart shows the three options for completing the program. We also have a detailed chart listing required classes for current upper classmen who are interested in the program as well as a chart that will be of interest to under classmen, and prospective students. The 5-year dual degree program is something that's been requested by employers as well as students, and we are sure that it will be a success.
