Faculty :: Russell T. Johns

Russell T. Johns
Associate Professor
Ph.D. Petroleum Engineering
Stanford University

Dr. Johns has served on the faculty since 1995. He has nine years of industrial experience in both the petroleum and environmental fields and has published more than 20 technical articles, reports, and conference proceedings. His research interests include the study of multiphase flow through porous media, with application to enhanced oil recovery, environmental remediation, and nuclear waste disposal. Other research interests include applied mathematics, contaminant transport, and the characterization of hazardous waste disposal sites.

 Current Research Projects

  • Mathematics of multicomponent, multiphase flow in porous media
  • Well testing in low-permeability formations
  • Nonlinear effects of density variations on solute transport
