- Russell T. Johns
Associate Professor
Ph.D. Petroleum Engineering
Stanford University
Dr. Johns has served on the faculty since 1995. He has
nine years of industrial experience in both the petroleum
and environmental fields and has published more than 20
technical articles, reports, and conference proceedings. His
research interests include the study of multiphase flow
through porous media, with application to enhanced oil
recovery, environmental remediation, and nuclear waste
disposal. Other research interests include applied
mathematics, contaminant transport, and the characterization
of hazardous waste disposal sites.
Current Research Projects
- Mathematics of multicomponent, multiphase flow in
porous media
- Well testing in low-permeability formations
- Nonlinear effects of density variations on solute
transport
