Jon E. Olson
Associate Professor
Ph.D. Applied Earth Sciences
Stanford University

Dr. Olson joined the faculty in 1995. He has six years of industrial experience and has published many technical articles and reports. He specializes in the applications of rock fracture and continuum mechanics to fractured reservoir characterization, hydraulic fracturing, and rock mechanics.

 Current Research Projects

  • Hydraulic Fracturing from Deviated and Horizontal Wells
  • Measurement and Interpretation of Surface Deformation Using Tiltmeters
  • Compaction and Subsidence Modeling
  • Characterization of Fractured Reservoirs
  • In Situ Stress Determination
  • Rock Fracture Processes (faults, joints, veins)
