Dr. Schechter has been on the faculty since 1956. He specializes in
colloidal and interface science. His research interests include the
study of fundamental questions related to surface chemistry - in
particular the areas of surfactants, adsorption, micelles and
microemulsions - and the applications of these fundamentals to oil
well stimulation, oil recovery and mass transfer. Dr. Schechter has
authored five books and published more than 190 technical articles and
reports. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Dr.
Schechter is currently retired.
