News :: PGE Team Wins 2011 Petro Bowl

PGE’s team won the tenth annual Petro Bowl at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in Denver on Monday October 31st. The Petro Bowl pits sixteen collegiate teams against one another, testing their knowledge of petroleum engineering. The questions ranged from technical information and petroleum engineering related news stories, to questions on the history of the oil and gas industry. Team members Carson Carruthers, Trey Cole, John Brown and Ashwin Venkatraman, together with alternate Reed Collins, spent nine months preparing for the quiz style competition and it paid off. Team PGE powered their way through tough trivia questions to the finals where they defeated Missouri University of Science & Technology with a score of 335 to 40. The team received a trophy, a $4,000 check and the title of “Petro Bowl World Champions.” We’ll have to make room on the trophy shelf, the PGE team also won the competition in 2009. Congratulations to all!
