News :: Richard Moncrief Honored as Distinguished Graduate

Every December the School of Engineering recognizes its Distinguished Graduates; these are alumni who have successful professional careers and have shown a strong commitment to education and public service. This award is the highest honor that the School awards to its graduates. We are proud to announce that one of our Petroleum Engineering graduates, Richard W. Moncrief was so honored on December 6, 2008.

A 1965 graduate of the University, Richard is a third generation principal in Moncrief Oil, a family owned exploration and production company with headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Continuing to work with his father W.A. “Tex” Moncrief, and his brothers in the domestic oil business, Richard went on to found Moncrief Oil International, Inc. in 1970 and has established oil production in major fields in the Middle East and in Eastern Europe. Richard Moncrief is a member of the board of trustees for the Amon Carter Museum, Ft. Worth's world-renowned American art collection; the William A. and Elizabeth B. Moncrief Foundation, and The University of Texas Development Board. Congratulations.

For more about the ceremony and our distinguished graduate see the complete story at the College of Engineering site.
