News :: Drilling Lab Furthers Education

The new undergraduate drilling lab is taking shape. We have a donation in place of a wetabillity tester and an atmospheric cement consistometer from Halliburton. Halliburton has provided training for the equipment during the two Camp Bevo’s held each year at Duncan. We have a donation of two high pressure/high temperature cement consistometers on the way from BJ Services. BJ hosted Paul Bommer and Glen Baum for three days of training in January using the consistometers. We now have the capability to test a variety of cement slurries.

Also, on site and running are our portable drilling simulators. We now offer a continuing education well control refresher course using our simulators. This can be done here at UT or at your site. Please contact Dr. Paul Bommer at pmbommer@mail.utexas.edu if your company is interested in this continuing education course.
