You might not have heard about it yet, but only because it's a first. The inaugural
UT Energy Forum will be held Feb. 3-4 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin.
This student-led event will bring together leading researchers from The University of Texas at Austin, along with industry
leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs to explore today's most pressing energy challenges, from oil exploration to renewable
energy and alternative sources, to innovative energy ventures.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Arun Majumdar, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects
Agency - Energy (ARPA-E), and Michael Webber, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering,
associate director of the Center for International Energy & Environmental Policy and co-director of the Clean Energy
Incubator. Chairman Tad Patzek and Professor Mukul Sharma are also participating in one of the eight panels.
Panel topics during the two-day event include:
- Energy Resources for the Next 20 Years
- The Utility of the Future
- Buildings and the Nega-Watt Revolution
- Carbon Capture and Sequestration
- New Developments in Oil and Gas Resources
- Powering Transportation
- Bringing Energy Storage to Market Policy
- Tools to Advance New Energy Technology
