Annually the College of Engineering recognizes Distinguished Graduates who have
successful professional careers and have shown a strong commitment to education and public service.
It is an honor awarded each year to only five out of the more than 50,000 graduates of the College of Engineering.
We are proud to say that two of our alumni were among the five engineers honored at this year's ceremony on December 15th.
W.E. Findley Jr. earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the University and went on
to found Findley Engineering Service Company, now FESCO, Ltd. which he still heads. During his successful career Findley
has continued to support the University as a life member of the Friends of Alec and as a parent (his three
children and four step children all attended the University).
Jeffrey D. Hildebrand completed a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from The University. He
founded his own oil and gas production company, Hilcorp Energy Company, which he still heads. Active in his church and in the
community, as well as in business, he still finds time to participate in fundraising for the University and has been a member
of the External Advisory Committee for our Department.
It is a great pleasure to congratulate our own two Distinguished Graduates! For more about
the ceremony and Findley and Hildebrand see the complete story at the College of Engineering site.
