News :: Balhoff and DiCarlo Join PGE Faculty

Drs. Matthew Balhoff and David DiCarlo are joining the PGE faculty as Assistant Professors as of the fall semester. Dr. Balhoff received his Bachelors and then Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University. He joined the Center for Subsurface Modeling group as a Postodoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. His research involves pore scale and multiscale modeling, flow and transport in porous media, and reservoir engineering.

Dr. DiCarlo has worked on experimental measurements of flow and transport in porous media for the past 13 years with Cornell University, Stanford University, and most recently with the Agricultural Research Service, with over 40 refereed publications. His research interests include: applying advanced experimental techniques (synchrotron radiation, CT scanning, and acoustical measurements) to understanding fluid flows, pore-scale physics and its effect on large-scale flows, preferential and compositional displacements, and gas injection processes.

Their experiences and backgrounds make them valued additions to the faculty. Welcome Matt and David.
