News :: Gary Pope to Receive 2 Awards

Professor Gary Pope is to receive the Melvin R. Lohmann medal from the College of Engineering at Oklahoma State University. The Lohmann Medal is intended to honor a graduate of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology who has made "outstanding technical or managerial contributions to his or her profession and/or contributions to the education of engineers, architects or technologists that merit the highest recognition."

Dr. Pope will also be recognized as an "IOR Pioneer" by the Society of Petroleum Engineers at the 15th SPE/DOE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium which will be held in Tulsa Oklahoma April 22-26, 2006. Drs. Lake, Hocott, Caudle and Robert Schechter of this department have been honored by receiving this award in the past. Given biennially, the award will be given to five researchers at this meeting. Congratulations!

Dr. Pope, holder of the Texaco Centennial Chair in the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, has taught at the University of Texas since 1977. Additionally, he is director of the Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University.
