News :: Torres-Verdín & Formation Evaluation Group to be Recognized at SPWLA Meeting

Associate Professor Carlos Torres-Verdín was recently notified that "Pore-Scale Analysis of the Waxman-Smits Shaly-Sand Conductivity Model" by Guodong Jin, Carlos Torres-Verdin, Sarath Devarajan, Emmanuel Toumelin and E.C. Thomas will be recognized as the best paper published in Petrophysics during 2007. The paper, which appears in vol. 48, no 2 (April 2007), p. 104-120 was selected by the Editors for this honor. Torres-Verdín and his co-authors will be recognized at the 2008 Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) Annual Symposium which will be held in Edinburgh Scotland, May 25-28th.

At the same meeting Carlos Torres-Verdín, graduate student Alberto Mendoza, and their co-author William E. Preeg, will be the 2007 recipients of the Best Poster Award from the Society. Congratulations to the Formation Evaluation group for these well deserved honors!
