News :: PGE student in Saudi Arabia Poster Competition

PGE’s very own Daniel Sanchez Rivera was selected to participate in a research poster competition in Saudi Arabia!

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), an international, graduate-level research university is hosting a competitive research poster event in conjunction with their Winter Enrichment Program, January 14-29, 2012. Only 50 abstracts from students around the globe were accepted to present their research.

"Representing The University of Texas is a great honor, and this is a terrific opportunity to show the world the quality of the research that takes place in this department," said Sanchez Rivera.

A prestigious panel will judge the posters based on the novelty of the work, clarity of ideas, creativity, and overall impact of the presentation. The three winners will be recognized during the final Awards Ceremony.

“Daniel's pore-scale modeling research of non-Newtonian fluids has important implications to enhanced oil recovery, hydraulic fracturing, and recovery of heavy oils. Impressively, he has accomplished quality, graduate-level research in just a few months as an undergraduate researcher. Our department is extremely lucky to have such creative and motivated students like Daniel,” said Dr. Matt Balhoff.
