News:: PGE Helps Introduce 800 Girls to the Science and Engineering of Energy, Climate, and Water

As part of The University of Texas' STORE program (sequestration training, outreach, research & education), 4 members of PGE, Drs. Jon Olson and Carlos Torres-Verdin and graduate students Angelica Hernandez and Precious Williams, participated in a day-long intensive program with hands-on sessions and panel discussions to teach girls about issues in energy & petroleum engineering. The event was attended by over 800 high school girls from Ursuline Academy in Dallas on Friday, October 1, with the goal of increasing public awareness of energy, climate and water issues and promoting careers in science and engineering. On Saturday, October 2, PGE members participated in a similar program repeated at Ursuline Academy for 150 middle school girls, their families and teachers who came in from as far as the Abilene and Texarkana areas.
