News :: Formation Evaluation Research Group Scores Again

Professor Carlos Torres-Verdín and nine graduate students from his Formation Evaluation Research group attended the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado May 14-18. Students delivered 8 oral presentations and 9 poster presentations on various formation evaluation topics. There was a student poster competition at the meeting and PGE students won an impressive first and third places in this competition. Vahid Shabro, Ph.D. Candidate, took first place with his presentation, "Pore-scale modeling of slip flow, Knudsen diffusion, and Langmuir desorption to estimate apparent permeability in shale-gas formations." Kanay Jerrath, Master's Candidate, earned third place with his paper, "Reconciliation of multi-dimensional NMR measurements with the process of mud-filtrate invasion: synthetic and field examples." Congratulations to the Formation Evaluation Research group for (another) outstanding showing at the SPWLA meeting.
