Does that sound like a familiar headline? PGE Tops US News & World Report Rankings. Well, it's a very familiar headline,
but here in Austin, we never get tired of those words. In the 2008 edition of the U.S. News & World Report Rankings for American Graduate Schools,
Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin takes the top spot among
Petroleum Engineering departments for the fifth year in a row; for 2008 we are sharing this distinction with Stanford University. The College of Engineering as a whole was ranked eleventh out of all accredited graduate schools surveyed.
We are quite proud. Specialty rankings, such as that for petroleum engineering, are based on assessments by department heads in
