In the 2009 edition of the U.S. News & World Report Rankings for American Graduate Schools,
Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin takes the top spot among
Petroleum Engineering departments for the sixth year in a row. The College of Engineering as a whole was ranked eleventh out of all accredited graduate schools surveyed.
Specialty rankings, such as that for petroleum engineering, are based on assessments by department heads in
