I've stopped writing about what I'm reading, what a sad thing. Well good books this year were: Sarah Bird's The Flamenco Academy (loved that), Anne Tyler's Digging to America, Donohue's The Stolen Child: A Novel Mann's 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus, and right now I'm in the middle of World War Z which is great fun. (That's Z as in Zombie) Also enjoyed some recent rather than new books, The Geographer's Library, The Historian and Saturday by Mcewan. The biggest disappointment of this year Postwar:A History of Europe Since 1945. I enjoy big fat history books but this one has left me slogging away out of a dogged determination to get my money's worth.

I am the departmental librarian for the Department of Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. I have had a website listing resources in Petroleum Engineering since June of 1994. Although I can't answer every question that I'm sent (I am not a petroleum engineer, a lawyer, a genealogist or a geologist) I answer "good questions"; this means they are on the topic of locating information in petroleum engineering & I can find the answer from resources which may not be available to you.
