Educator Events

To continue connecting with STEM educators, our team actively attends state and national educator conferences to provide workshops and distribute program information at our booth. Below are events we currently attend to actively engage with STEM educators:

  • West Texas Energy Summit

June 17-18, 2026 | Midland, TX Designed for 7th–12th grade STEM teachers in the Midland/Odessa area, this two-day workshop offers participants access to valuable classroom resources focused on oil, gas and energy production. Activities will highlight the engineering and technology involved in extracting and utilizing these resources. Additionally, teachers will have the opportunity to explore the industry firsthand through visits to various field locations and work sites. Upon completion, teachers will receive a certificate providing 17 CPE hours. Learn more about the workshop content by exploring our Energy Excursions courses In Pursuit of the Safe Well, How Much Water Does it Take and Energize the Future. FREE to teachers with a $50 refundable registration fee. Presented by SPE–Permian Basin, UT PGE and Diamondback Energy.

  • STEM in the Real World: Geoscience and Engineering Strategies for Climate Change Mitigation

    June 24, 2026 | San Antonio, TX
This interactive STEM teacher workshop explores the intersection of earth sciences and engineering design through the lens of carbon storage technologies. Participants will investigate sedimentary rock characteristics that underpin carbon storage, such as rock layering, porosity and permeability, and will apply engineering design processes to develop innovative storage solutions. Through hands-on activities, real-world case studies and collaborative problem-solving, educators will gain practical strategies to integrate these concepts into their classrooms, fostering critical thinking and sustainability awareness among students. This workshop is open to 6th–12th grade STEM teachers. Workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Region 20 Education Service Center.

  • Energy Science and Technology Institute

    July 13–17, 2026 | UT Austin
ESTI introduces STEM high school teachers to the latest technological innovations in the Texas energy industry, with specific applications in the areas of subsurface engineering and geology, and provides teachers with the foundation to better instruct, inspire and mentor their students for potential opportunities in energy.

Led by UT Austin faculty, ESTI includes hands-on activities and labs, discussion sessions, breakout sessions, and online coursework that bring a focus to energy activities in Texas. Participants have the opportunity to meet faculty and discuss technology, engineering, careers and other topics in an informal setting. A variety of energy themes are covered during each workshop, such as the global energy marketplace, petroleum engineering, water-energy connection, energy portfolio mix, geothermal energy, carbon storage and hydrogen storage.
