News :: Gary Pope Honored with AIME Environmental Award

Professor Gary Pope has been selected to receive the AIME Environmental Conservation Distinguished Service Award for 2008. Given, "In recognition of outstanding service, foresight and innovation in groundwater modeling and remediation, oil recovery and greenhouse gas storage, including research leadership and education knowledge." The award will be presented at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony in Denver Colorado on September 22nd, 2008.

Dr. Pope, holder of the Texaco Centennial Chair in the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, is also the director of the Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University. Congratulations!
