Prospective Students :: Graduates :: Requirements :: Option Details

These courses are selected from three modules, Basic Skills, Discipline Areas, and PGE and Outside Electives.

1- Thesis Option (30 semester credit hours):

  1. A minimum of two courses from Module I.
  2. A minimum of two courses from Module II.
  3. A minimum of four courses from Module III.
  4. Thesis (PGE 698A and PGE 698B).

2- Report Option (33 semester credit hours):

  1. A minimum of three courses from Module I.
  2. A minimum of three courses from Module II.
  3. A minimum of four courses from Module III.
  4. M.S. Report (PGE 398R).

3- Ph.D. Fast Track Option (33 semester credit hours):

  1. A minimum of three courses from Module I.
  2. A minimum of three courses from Module II.
  3. A minimum of four courses from Module III.
  4. M.S. Report (Ph.D. proposal: PGE 398R).

4- No Thesis No Report Option (36 semester credit hours):

  1. A minimum of three courses from Module I.
  2. A minimum of three courses from Module II.
  3. A minimum of six courses from Module III.

For students without a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering, the elective courses and the courses taken in each Area may be used to make up some (but not all) deficiencies. This may limit their choice of elective courses.
