Prospective Students :: Graduates :: Course Requirements for the MS degree

The MS program is designed to provide a rigorous yet broad graduate education in most disciplines of petroleum engineering. Students must choose one of the four options shown below.

Any student who does not have a degree in petroleum engineering will be required to take undergraduate courses to make up deficiencies in his or her background. Details of this policy are outlined on the PGE website

To complete a MS degree, a student may choose from one of four options:
  • 30 semester credit hours (sch)- Thesis Option
  • 33 sch- Report Option
  • 33 sch- Ph.D. Fast Track Option
  • 36 sch- No Thesis No Report Option
Each option has different course requirements which must be followed. These courses are selected from three modules, Basic Skills, Discipline Areas, and PGE and Outside Electives.
